Disney World is testing a brand-new baggage perk at Disney World, BUT it’s exclusive to guests staying at certain hotels.
Disney recently surprise-launched a new program that allows guests departing their Disney hotel for Orlando International Airport (MCO) to drop off baggage they wish to check with the hotel’s Luggage Assistance desk. The luggage will then be delivered directly to their flight, allowing guests to bypass baggage lines at the airport.
According to Disney, eligible guests who use the service can enact the following steps:
- “At the beginning of your stay, check-in at your Disney Value Resort hotel and call or visit Luggage Assistance to take advantage of this service. For a smoother experience, leave your inbound Southwest Airlines tags on your bags.”
- “The day before your departure, check-in for your Southwest Airlines flight online.”
- “Drop off your bags at Luggage Assistance in the Resort hotel lobby area by the required drop off time. Please be aware that you will need to provide a valid form of photo identification in order to drop off your bags. You can also call Luggage Assistance from your in-room telephone to ask for help with your bags.”
- “Head to the airport, skip the check-in line, enjoy your flight and pick up your bags at baggage claim when you arrive at your destination.”
They further advise that guests departing MCO before 1:00 PM drop their bags off by 1:00 AM the night before their flight, and “at least 4 hours before departure or no later than 1:00 PM – – whichever comes first” when departing at or after 1:00 PM. Luggage Assistance is available to receive luggage any time from 7:00 AM to 1:00 PM and 4:00 PM to 1:00 AM daily.
According to Disney, this “pilot service is available at Disney Value Resort hotels for Guests with Southwest Airlines flights departing from Orlando International Airport (MCO).”
Yes, you read that correctly: Currently, the service is ONLY available to guests of Disney World’s Value-Tier Hotels:
- Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Music Resort
- Disney’s All-Star Sports Resort
- Disney’s Art of Animation Resort
- Disney’s Pop Century Resort
Furthermore, guests must be CHECKING OUT and DEPARTING for MCO from one of these hotels, meaning that guests who begin their stay at a Value Resort but change to a Moderate or Deluxe for a later portion of their trip are NOT eligible.
Disney’s latest baggage perk is only available to guests staying at Value tier resorts… for now. Stay tuned to DFB for more on the resort’s latest service offerings.
