In a developing story, two of the new electric buses currently in use at Universal Orlando Resort have caught fire.
Electric Buses Catch Fire Near Epic Universe
As first reported by local news station WESH2, two buses have just caught fire at Universal Orlando Resort. According to their video, the buses were located just outside Epic Universe when they reportedly caught fire. By the time the news crews arrived, the buses were still smoldering and first responders were already at the scene.
The original report dubs them “tour buses,” but they are definitely Universal-branded, as the Universal globe logo is clearly visible on the back of the buses.
Upon closer inspection, both appear to be part of the new electric bus fleet that recently debuted at Universal Orlando Resort earlier this year, just prior to the opening of Epic Universe.
The bright purple paint most closely resembles the Transformers-themed bus seen in the above image, though the electric buses come in multiple colors with wraps based on other characters as well.
The original report notes that there is still no information on why the bus caught fire, whether any guests were riding in the bus at the time, or if anyone has been injured so far.
