Finding a bathroom in EPCOT’s World Showcase can sometimes feel like an adventure you didn’t plan for.
Even if you’ve been to Disney World a hundred times, there are still a few things about the bathrooms in this part of the park that feel outdated and inconvenient. EPCOT has been investing in new attractions, dining, and even nighttime spectaculars, but the bathrooms in World Showcase haven’t really gotten the glow-up they deserve. If Disney wants to make the guest experience as smooth as possible, there are a few upgrades that could make a huge difference. Here are the five things EPCOT’s World Showcase bathrooms desperately need.
Better Signage
Raise your hand if you’ve walked the entire Japan pavilion before finally spotting the restroom. Yeah, us too. For some reason, World Showcase bathrooms aren’t always easy to find, especially in pavilions with winding pathways and hidden corners. Guests already spend enough time navigating crowds and crisscrossing the park, so trying to locate a restroom shouldn’t feel like solving a scavenger hunt.
Clearer, larger, and more obvious signage would go a long way here. A few pavilions, like Mexico and France, are easier to navigate because their bathrooms are in obvious spots. But in others, the signage is small or tucked away in places where you wouldn’t think to look. Disney has mastered themed signs for shops, restaurants, and rides — surely they can find a way to design bathroom signs that fit the pavilion theming while also being easy to spot.
More Mirrors
After you’ve sampled nine festival booths and need to quickly freshen up, a single mirror by the exit just isn’t enough. Most World Showcase bathrooms have one large mirror positioned near the entrance or exit, but very few mirrors near the sinks. That means a line can form just for people trying to fix their hair or touch up their makeup after enjoying all the EPCOT snacks and sips.
Adding more mirrors at each sink station would solve this issue instantly. It doesn’t need to be fancy — just a practical addition to make the space more functional. Considering how much of EPCOT revolves around eating and drinking, it only makes sense that bathrooms should be better equipped for quick touch-ups before you’re back on your way to the next pavilion. Disney likely does this to avoid lines happening at sinks but it would be nice for there to be a few more mirrors!
Softer, Higher-Quality Toilet Paper
Look, when Disney charges $150+ a day for park admission, it feels reasonable that the least thing they could do is use toilet paper that doesn’t make us think of sandpaper. Right now, the paper is thin, scratchy, and generally uncomfortable — which can be especially problematic after a long day of eating around the world.
We’re not saying EPCOT needs luxury hotel-style bathroom products, but something softer and sturdier would go a long way. At the end of the day, this is part of the guest experience. It might not be as flashy as a new attraction or festival booth, but comfort in the bathrooms matters. Guests spend hours in the park every day, and when nature calls, that pit stop should feel at least somewhat comfortable. We do know that a lot of this has to do with avoiding sewage issues, but even just a little bit softer of toilet paper would be much appreciated.
Improved Privacy & Better Stall Doors
Again, raise your hands if you’ve ever been in a Disney bathroom stall and made eye contact with a stranger through the door gap or a child who peeks under the door (those who have know exactly why this is on the list). Many Disney World bathroom stalls leave about a quarter-inch or more of space between the door and the frame, which basically means you feel like you’re sitting on display.
We’re in 2025, but for some reason, we still don’t have stall doors that give us full privacy. Newer Disney hotels and restaurants have done a better job of creating private stalls, but not all EPCOT bathrooms have caught up yet. If Disney really wants to improve the guest experience, better stall doors without those gaps would be a small but meaningful fix.
Acoustic Enhancements (Sound Masking)
This one might sound a little extra at first, but Disney needs sound masking in its bathrooms. In countries like Japan, many public restrooms play ambient sounds or white noise to cover up any, ahem, “unpleasant” noises. It makes the experience way less embarrassing and a lot more comfortable, especially in these echo-heavy bathrooms.
Right now, EPCOT bathrooms are all tile and hard surfaces. That means every single noise is amplified. Installing subtle white noise, soft music, or even themed ambient sounds (imagine a bubbling fountain in Italy or forest sounds in Canada) would fit perfectly with Disney’s immersive approach. It’s thoughtful, on-brand, and would make guests feel much more relaxed during their pit stops.
Bathrooms may not be the most glamorous part of a Disney World trip, but they’re still a huge part of the guest experience. EPCOT’s World Showcase is all about celebrating culture, food, and storytelling — and the bathrooms should rise to meet that standard. With a few simple upgrades like clearer signage, better mirrors, softer toilet paper, improved stall privacy, and sound masking, these bathrooms could go from “functional” to “fantastic.”
