Disney Springs Construction Permit Suggests Drone Show Return

Disney Springs Construction Permit Suggests Drone Show Return

Disney has filed a construction permit for a possible drone staging area at Disney Springs.

Disney Springs Drone Staging Area

A nighttime sky display shows the words "Disney Dreams That Soar" formed by illuminated drones, with a lake and lit buildings visible below.

The Notice of Commencement filed by Walt Disney World this week is for the installation of 870 feet of 6-foot-high Beta fencing and five gates at 1472 E Buena Vista Dr #C03. The contractor is Jim William Fence Company.

This is exactly the same dimensions, address, and contractor as the April 2024 permit for the Disney Dreams That Soar staging area. Disney Dreams That Soar was a limited-time drone show above Lake Buena Vista at Disney Springs. It was performed from May 24 through September 2, 2025. It was the district’s second drone show, following the 2016 Starbright Holidays show.

Though generally well-received, the drone shows did lead to congested walkways at Disney Springs and were costly to produce. Still, the permit suggests Disney is planning to launch a drone show again — maybe the return of Disney Dreams That Soar or another holiday show.

As usual, the permit expires in one year.
