If you want Mardi Gras vibes at Walt Disney World without needing a park ticket, Disney’s Port Orleans Resort is such a fun choice, especially on Fat Tuesday. And while both Port Orleans Riverside and French Quarter get in on the fun, French Quarter is where most of the day’s activities happen, so that’s the best spot to be if you’re trying to do the full celebration.
Between the golf cart “Pargo” parade, crafts, costume contests, an evening party, and live jazz, it’s basically a mini Mardi Gras… Disney style.
The Mardi Gras “Pargo” Parade (Golf Cart Parade)
This is the tradition that makes Port Orleans feel extra special. Cast Members decorate golf carts into mini floats and parade through the resort. It’s a great time! Each year is a new theme and 2026’s parade theme was “Heroes vs. Villains.”
TRACKER TIP: If you want to catch both parades (It is the same parade at both locations), do Riverside first, then head to French Quarter. The timing is perfect for it. 10:30 a.m. at Riverside, 11:30 a.m. at French Quarter, and French Quarter is where you’ll want to stay after.
French Quarter Keeps the Celebration Going All Day
Once the parade comes through, French Quarter becomes the main hub for the rest of Mardi Gras. If you’re not trying to bounce back and forth, this is where you can park yourself and keep the day rolling.
Mardi Gras Merch in the Courtyard
French Quarter also celebrates with special Mardi Gras merchandise, which is super fun. During the festivities, there were items like a tumbler, tote bag, Mardi Gras shirts, and even Disney beignet Loungefly ears.
The Evening Mardi Gras Party
- 6:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m.
- Expect music, party vibes, and more activities like games/crafts happening in the courtyard.
This is when French Quarter really feels like a little neighborhood party. It’s festive, but still totally doable for families.
TRACKER TIP: Grab your spot a little early. Even resort events can get busy once everyone’s done with parks for the day.

If you want the most “I’m in New Orleans… but also I’m at Disney” moment, this is it.
TRACKER TIP: Save some energy for the jazz. The music goes later than the main Mardi Gras celebration window, and it’s such a cozy way to end the night.
Don’t Leave French Quarter Without Beignets!
And of course, it wouldn’t be a Port Orleans French Quarter day without beignets! Scat Cat’s Club Café is right there in the main lobby, and it’s one of the best treats you can get. They’re Mickey-shaped, warm, and the powdered sugar situation is very authentic (grab napkins). It’s the perfect snack to grab either before you stake out a parade spot or as a little reward at the end of the day.
Don’t Miss the Extra Mardi Gras Decor
French Quarter already has New Orleans charm built in, but on Fat Tuesday it gets extra festive touches.
If you want a fun Mardi Gras celebration that still feels relaxed, Port Orleans French Quarter is the place to do it. Riverside is a great bonus stop for the earlier parade, but French Quarter is where the day really unfolds with everything.
Whether you’re there for the parade, the beignets, or the jazz, Mardi Gras at Port Orleans French Quarter is proof you don’t need a park ticket to have a fun Disney day!
