Ever since The Magic of Disney Animation was announced to replace Animation Courtyard in Hollywood Studios, we have been (not so) patiently waiting for Disney to tell us when we can meet our favorite characters and try out new drawing classes. Lucky for us, that day is here!

Grab your pen and get ready to mark your calendar because Disney just gave us the opening date for this new Hollywood Studios experience.

The Magic of Disney Animation is officially opening on May 26th, 2026, as part of Cool Kids’ Summer!

This new space is inspired by the Walt Disney Animation Studios in Burbank, California, and features iconic elements like Mickey’s sorcerer hat in front of the building.

It’s going to take the place of Animation Courtyard and Star Wars: Launch Bay, and The Little Mermaid — A Musical Adventure, which opened in summer 2025, will stay in the area.

What’s coming to the new experience? There will be lots of character meet and greets along with an indoor playground themed to Mary Blair’s original concept art for Alice in Wonderland called “Drawn to Wonderland.” It will have an oversized flower garden with musical instruments, a Mad Tea Party playset, and a Tulgey Wood exploration area.

There will also be drawing classes, which make us feel like we’re entering the original Hollywood Studios (or MGM Studios, really!).

A brand new Disney Jr. show will also be coming to the soundstage, which is perfect for the whole family to take a break from the heat with your favorite Disney Jr. characters.
