Tropical Americas continues to take shape at Disney’s Animal Kingdom in Walt Disney World, as more structures go vertical and former DinoLand, U.S.A. buildings are refurbished.
Tropical Americas’ Pueblo Esperanza Progress
Tropical Americas will include the village of Pueblo Esperanza, the entrance to which will be flanked by a clock tower and a carousel of hand-carved wooden Disney animals. We noticed structures around both have now gone vertical.
Clock Tower
The clock tower is the most noticeable new construction, rising above the green construction walls displaying the Tropical Americas concept art.
The clock tower will be part of the structure to guests’ right of the entrance to Tropical Americas, the plaza called Pueblo Esperanza. In the concept art, it appears to be atop an open-air market or eating area.
Carousel Queue Building Roofwork
On the other side of the entrance, the two structures that may house the queue for the carousel have received peaked frameworks for their roofs.
The two buildings will be opposite the clock tower and next to the carousel. Although we theorize this may cover the carousel queue, we don’t yet know what these buildings’ purpose will be.
Restaurantosaurus and Chester & Hester Transformation
Much like DINOSAUR is becoming a new Indiana Jones ride set in a Mayan temple, Restaurantosaurus and Chester & Hester’s Dinosaur Treasures are being rethemed to fit into their new home in Tropical Americas. While we don’t know their ultimate fate, we’re assuming they will respectively remain as food service and retail establishments.
A concrete foundation and framework for a new structure have been installed in front of the former Restaurantosaurus.
More earthmoving continues around the area with an excavator and bulldozer among the many construction vehicles at work.
This peek behind the construction wall gives us another angle of the work being done on Restaurantosaurus and Chester & Hester’s.
