Theme parks are for everyone, but sometimes, our favorite resorts will create unique experiences just for kids. One such place is Universal Kids Resort, which opens to all guests on July 1 and features lands themed to SpongeBob SquarePants, Shrek, Trolls, and more.

In addition to the park itself, just a few steps away is the Universal Kids Resort Hotel. This hotel is located at the entrance to the park, and offers 300 rooms and family suites, dining, an outdoor pool, and more amenities.
Earlier this month, Universal Kids Resort invited us out to Frisco, Texas to check out the park and stay at the hotel ahead of its opening, and we toured a Deluxe Queen room! It comes in at 314-square feet, with one queen bed, a twin-over-full bunk bed, and a kid-friendly bathroom.
Walking in from the hallway, you’ll find yourself in a small entryway that leads into the main living area, with the bathroom off to the side.
Starting in the bathroom, you get a large sink area with plenty of counter space, as well as an illuminated mirror. There are towels underneath the sink, along with more toilet paper and a hair dryer.
We really appreciate that the shower includes a tub, which makes bathtime easy for those visiting the park with littles. Inside the shower are wall-mounted dispensers of Dove shampoo, conditioner, and body wash, so you don’t have to pack your own if you’d rather save the space in your luggage. More Dove hand soap and lotion are on the countertop, ready to use.
Heading into the main living area, there’s a couch with a small round table and a stool for quick snack times in the room, a bunk bed for the kids (or kids at heart if you’re not too tall!), and a queen-size bed for the adults. The bottom level of the bunk bed is a full-size mattress, so you could fit two younger kids there if needed. The top bunk is a traditional twin-size bed.
The queen-size bed is also surprisingly comfortable; it felt like landing in a cloud!
Across from the queen-size bed is a wardrobe with extra bedding, shelves, a luggage rack, hangers, and storage for your clothes so you don’t have to live out of your suitcase on longer trips.
On the wall across from the bed area is a flat panel TV, which includes HD channels and on-demand in-room movies for the family. Beneath the TV is a long cabinet with a room phone, colored pencils and stationery, an electronic safe, a mini fridge, and more storage. An ice bucket, tongs, and plastic cups are also located here.
We really enjoyed getting to check out this room! It’s a great size for a family of four (or five) planning to visit the new resort to experience all it has to offer. There are also several variations of this room type that include pool or theme park views as well as accessibility options.
