Disney Wins Lawsuit Stemming From Viral July 2022 Fight at Magic Kingdom

A lawsuit stemming from a viral fight in July 2022 at Magic Kingdom has ended in Disney’s favor.

PhilharMagic Fight

The lawsuit stems from an incident between two families that occurred on July 20, 2022. The defendants, Nadia and Daniyal Aikal were waiting in the queue for Mickey’s PhilharMagic when a member of another family allegedly pushed or shoved their relative.

They reported the encounter to a Cast Member, identified the other family, and the Cast Member stated she would take care of it and separated the two families by directing the other family to a different entrance. The plaintiffs did not request security or law enforcement at that time.

The two families watched the show without incident.

Upon exiting the attraction, the other family “quickly pounced” and “appeared out of nowhere,” and a physical altercation ensued. Disney Cast Members responded, radioed security, called 911, formed a barrier around the combatants, and de-escalated the altercation within minutes before deputies arrived.

A guest involved reached out to WDWNT the day after the incident occurred, letting us know that their family had been banned from Walt Disney World and guests from the other family involved were arrested. Read more coverage from this incident.

The plaintiffs later sued Disney for negligent security based on the fact that this was a foreseeable incident. Disney argued that it owed no duty to protect the family against a sudden, unforeseeable third-party criminal act.

Lawsuit Ends in Disney’s Favor

In May 2026, Disney requested a Summary Judgment, which requests a legal ruling made by a judge before a trial begins, on the basis that this incident was not foreseeable and therefore Disney did not owe them protection.

On July 13, 2026, Circuit Court Judge Michael Deen granted summary judgment in favor of Disney, dismissing the case before it could ever go to a jury trial.

Final Judgment was entered in favor of Disney on all claims.
