Jeff Vahle, president of Walt Disney World Resort, will officially retire from the company after today.

Vahle was with The Walt Disney Company for 36 years, beginning as an engineer at Magic Kingdom. He has been president of Walt Disney World since 2020.

During his time with Disney, he has also lead Disney Signature Experiences and Facilities and Operations Services for Disney theme parks worldwide, along with leadership roles for international Disney destinations like Disney California Adventure, Hong Kong Disneyland, and Shanghai Disney Resort.

According to his official Disney Experiences bio, at the time of his retirement, Vahle “oversees a workforce of approximately 80,000 cast members at four theme parks, more than 25 resort hotels, two water parks, a sports complex, a themed retail, dining and entertainment district.”

Joe Schott will replace Vahle, stepping into the president role on August 3. Schott’s 40-year Disney career began as a Jungle Cruise Skipper at Magic Kingdom. Most recently, he has served as president of Disney Signature Experiences, overseeing the launch of Disney Cruise Line’s new ships, the Disney Destiny and Disney Adventure.
