Harrison Ford is putting the fedora back on for his first appearance as Indiana Jones in a Disney Parks attraction.

Harrison Ford to Appear as New Animatronic Indiana Jones

Harrison Ford will portray Indiana Jones in the upcoming attraction at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, marking his first-ever appearance as the legendary adventurer in a Disney Parks ride.

Ford himself announced his involvement during the Disney Experiences showcase at D23. The pre-recorded announcement was followed by an early 3D render of Harrison Ford as Indiana Jones was shared as part of the announcement. The attraction is under development for Pueblo Esperanza, the new Tropical Americas land replacing DinoLand U.S.A.

The Indiana Jones adventure will take over the former DINOSAUR attraction and reuse its existing ride system. Although Disney has previously featured Indiana Jones in theme park attractions and live entertainment, Ford’s likeness and performance have not appeared as the character in a Disney Parks ride.

Additional details about how Ford will be incorporated into the attraction were not immediately announced. The ride is expected to feature an original storyline created specifically for Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

The Tropical Americas land will also feature an Encanto-inspired attraction, a carousel populated by Disney animal characters, new dining and shopping locations, and a central village called Pueblo Esperanza.
