Following the very out-of-character post teasing the reopening of Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Crystal Skull at Tokyo DisneySea, the Oriental Land Company has not only announced the long-awaited return date of the ride, but that the 25-year-old Enhanced Motion Vehicle attraction will feature some new additions.

The year-long closure of Indiana Jones Adventure for refurbishment began August 18, 2025, so the reopening date of November 30, 2026 would mean the ride was closed for more than 15 months.
While Tokyo Disney Resort admits to doing inspections and necessary maintenance, they also announced changes to ride in the form of new projection mapping effects and audio. The post is relatively short, so we don’t know exactly where these new additions will be. It would be hard to even guess as the scenes of this Indiana Jones Adventure are quite different from those in the California version of the attraction, so they likely won’t align with what was done there in recent years.

Indiana Jones Adventure Around the World
Indiana Jones Adventure at Tokyo DisneySea uses an identical ride system and track as the Disneyland version of the ride, which is subtitled Temple of the Forbidden Eye. The rides have different stories, however. The Disneyland version is set in 1935 India at the temple of Mara. Temple of the Crystal Skull — which opened in 2001 and is unrelated to the 2008 film Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull — is set in Mexico and involves the search for the Fountain of Youth.
A third Indiana Jones ride will soon replace DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom. DINOSAUR also used the same ride system and a nearly identical track as Indiana Jones Adventure. This version will be set at a Maya temple, where Indy is investigating rumors of a mythical creature.
