Imagineer Ali Rubinstein shared the news during the Disney Experiences Showcase at D23, appearing on stage alongside former NASA engineer and YouTube personality Mark Rober and host Neil Patrick Harris.

Disney described the upcoming attraction refresh as “classically EPCOT, a journey through time, celebrating the progress made possible through human connection.”

Further details about changes to the ride’s scenes, narration, technology, and timeline were not announced.

Spaceship Earth opened with EPCOT on October 1, 1982. The slow-moving dark ride traces the development of human communication, beginning with early cave paintings and continuing through major technological advances.
