In a D23 presentation on Sunday, Disney shared that Cars Ridge Run Rally at Piston Peak National Park is designed to keep running through rainy weather.
During the presentation, it was not only revealed that the ride will continue running in the rain, but also that water will play a role in the attraction itself. Water effects will be incorporated into the geyser section of the off-road course. Although the ride is designed to operate in the rain, the ride will close when there is lightning in the area.
Last night, at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney announced the off-road rally race ride coming to Piston Peak National Park at Magic Kingdom will be named Cars Ridge Run Rally. They also shared concept art and details of the ride.
The course will take racers through the rugged beauty of America’s national parks, including a “bumpy” climb up Piston Peak itself, where an icy, snow-covered mountaintop awaits. After reaching the top, racers will plummet down for a camelback descent. The ride up will be bumpy, but the ride down will be even bumpier.
Last night, Disney also revealed the name, logo, story, animatronic, and new concept art for the family-friendly attraction coming to Piston Peak National Park at Magic Kingdom. The attraction is called Miss Fritter’s Daredevil Spin-Along. Inspired by the self-proclaimed “Diva of Demolition” from Cars 3, the ride will feature Miss Fritter as a massive, school-bus-sized Audio-Animatronic.

Piston Peak National Park is inspired by Pixar Animation Studios’ film Cars and real-life national parks, particularly the Rocky Mountains, Yosemite, and Yellowstone. Inside Piston Peak, guests will be able to see and explore the visitor lodge, Ranger HQ, trails, and more, all set within the Disney and Pixar “Cars” universe.
Piston Peak also has a new original car character, Ranger J. Autobahn Woodlore, who pays homage to classic Disney cartoons.
Walt Disney Imagineering promised they were considering sightlines when it came to the Cars-themed area, ensuring car architecture would not be visible from Main Street, U.S.A., Liberty Square, or another area of the park. They will do this by planting trees that act as a natural barrier. Rugged mountains with dramatic peaks will be nestled along a waterway across from Grizzly Hall and soaring geysers from Big Thunder Mountain Railroad will stretch into the trails of the off-road rally.
