Central Florida Heat Index Up to 112°F Today

East Central Florida will be under a Heat Advisory most of Wednesday with a heat index up to 112°F.

Central Florida Heat Index Up to 112°F Today

The Heat Advisory is in effect from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and includes Orange and Osceola counties, where Universal Orlando Resort and Walt Disney World Resort are located.

High temperatures will be in the mid 90s. The heat index will be between 108° and 112°, higher than yesterday.

East Central Florida temperatures this week

The NWS in Melbourne has also shared an updated forecast for the rest of the week. Greater Orlando is now forecast to have “extreme” HeatRisk temperatures between 95° and 96° through Sunday. Daytona Beach and Leesburg will also have “major” and “extreme” temperatures. The rest of East Central Florida will mostly be in the “moderate” range.

The “extreme” range is described as “Rare and/or long-duration extreme heat with no overnight relief affecting anyone without cooling/hydration as well as health systems, industries, and infrastructure.”

The NWS recommends residents and guests hydrate frequently, wear lightweight clothing, take frequent breaks in air conditioning or shade, and shift outdoor activities away to later in the evening.
