A large crane has arrived for the ongoing Disney’s Contemporary Resort refurbishment work at Walt Disney World.

We noticed the heavy machine on Wednesday, August 26, as it can be seen on the north side of the resort.

The black and white crane is parked in the northern service area surrounded by orange and white cones.

The majority of the fourth floor observation deck, has been blocked off by rolling planters as this area sits directly below the arm of the crane.

This isn’t the only area of the Contemporary’s exterior that is being worked on. Beige scrim and scaffolding are still seen on the front of the resort, but the scrim has since shifted.

Earlier this month, the exterior refurbishment had moved to the Bay Lake side of the resort, which included a scaffolding structure and dark green construction walls.

Construction at Contemporary Resort began in September 2024. Though originally scheduled for completion in September 2025, Disney later said it would last through July 2026 and then was changed again to the end of 2027.
