Disney has conducted height tests for Piston Peak National Park at Magic Kingdom, a photo from Disney Parks Blog revealed.
Piston Peak National Park Height Test

In the background of this photo of Walt Disney World executive creative director Jason Grandt, we can see a red balloon floating over the Piston Peak National Park construction site, with Cinderella Castle in the background.
A red balloon test is standard for tall structures when sightlines are a concern. Walt Disney Imagineering promised they were considering sightlines when it came to the Cars-themed area, ensuring car architecture would not be visible from Main Street, U.S.A., Liberty Square, or another area of the park.

The red balloon was likely raised to the height of a planned Piston Peak structure — maybe one of the piston-shaped mountains — then photographed from different angles to see how visible it will be. This helps the Imagineers alter and finalize designs accordingly.
Imagineers previously compared the techniques being used to hide Cars elements to those of Mount Prometheus at Tokyo DisneySea. The mountain appears to be a rolling, green hillside in the Cape Cod port rather than an active volcano. For the Magic Kingdom project, the view from Liberty Square will be appropriate rock work and a large waterfall.
