The Walt Disney Company is introducing an Employee Stock Purchase Plan and changing their health insurance plans.
Disney Updating Employee Benefits

In a memo viewed by Business Insider, Disney’s Executive VP of Total Rewards and Employee Services told U.S. employees, “We’re planning to introduce an Employee Stock Purchase Plan later in 2027, pending approvals, giving eligible employees the opportunity to build company ownership by purchasing Disney stock.”
Details, including eligibility and design, “are still being finalized.”
The plan could be an attempt to boost morale following several rounds of layoffs and make employees more money without giving raises.
Chaisson also said “most medical plans” will change next year, affecting employee contributions.
“Unlike in past years, your current coverage will not automatically roll over: nearly all employees will need to actively choose their plans and re-enroll any dependents for 2027,” Chaisson said in his memo. Disney is “encouraging everyone to take a fresh look at their options and choose what works best for them and their families.”
A person familiar with the matter told Business Insider that Disney is not switching health insurers.
They are “evolving” their well-being programs and consolidating some “to create a more consistent and streamlined experience,” according to Chaisson. The company will double the number of counseling sessions available through its Employee Assistance Program.
A Disney spokesperson told Business Insider, “Like a growing number of large employers, we’re making measured adjustments to our employee benefits in response to rising healthcare costs nationwide.”
They will share more details about the changes with employees in the coming months, adding they are “committed to providing our employees with a comprehensive package of high-quality coverage and other benefits that support their total health and well-being.”
