At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Walt Disney Imagineering shared photos of the Encanto ride coming to Disney’s Animal Kingdom, revealing the interior of the ride building that is under construction.
The Encanto ride will be part of the new Tropical Americas, replacing DinoLand U.S.A. The area is set to open in 2027.
We have been following the construction of the new land from the ground and the air, and thanks to photos on display at D23, we can now see the construction progress happening inside the Encanto ride building.
There is still a lot of work to be done on the exterior and the interior. The interior remains in the very early stages of construction, with exposed beams, equipment, and construction materials throughout the space.
A ground-level photo of the exterior can be seen above. The ride building is green, and the queue area will be to the left. The photo was taken from what will be a main walkway through the land. This photo was taken prior to the removal of the tower crane and the installation of the faux-mountain frames on top of the show building.
Though the ride is set during the events of the film, it seems it will focus more on Antonio and his animals than the movie’s plot.
We got our first look at the ride vehicles yesterday, which incorporate household furniture like a piano and dresser. Guests will be seated on benches that are designed to look like couches or chairs—two rows with four seats in each row.
A look back from the show building shows the carousel that is under construction in the distance. The carousel will consist of wood-carved Disney animals, including Kevin from Up. We saw a first look at some of the wood-carved animals at D23 yesterday.
