D23 2026, the Ultimate Disney Fan Event, has begun and Disney fans everywhere (including us!) are so excited for all the announcements to come with this weekend’s packed lineup of panels. On Friday, the biannual convention kicked off with the Disney Entertainment Showcase — here’s everything that was announced!
A Princess Diaries 3 Update
Things began with Anne Hathaway taking the stage to first talk about The Princess Diaries 3. The sequel to the much-beloved movies is now in development, but there’s currently no updated timeline on when fans can expect to see it in theaters.
A New Simpsons Movie?
After nearly 20 years, a new Simpsons Movie has been announced and is set to release in 2027. Dubbed The New Simpsons Movie, fans were treated to storyboard illustrations of a baseball game sequence, where Homer tries to catch a home run ball, and chaos ensues.
Incredibles 3 Sounds Incredible
Pete Docter, chief creative officer of Pixar, then took to the stage to celebrate the animation studio’s 40th anniversary and talk about the upcoming three-quel, The Incredibles 3. Per IGN, Docter gave a short synopsis of the upcoming film:
“Supers are officially legal again. With Incredibles 3, it’s the kids’ turn to take the stage. Violet and Dash are determined to stand on their own and prove they are ready to be real Supers. They have been sneaking out at night to protect the city. They are struggling to contain Jack Jack, whose powers make him even more unpredictable and dangerous. A new threat is taking a toll on Bob, who is struggling with his relevance in a world of Supers who have outgrown him. Not all Supers are good. In Incredibles 3, the family will face off against a [new] supervillain.”
We’ll be able to see who this new villain is and how the story unfolds when the movie hits theaters in June 2028.
Coco 2 and Kingdom Hearts IV News!
Docter followed up with a new update on Coco 2, which was first announced at Destination D23 last year. Releasing in November 2029, the new film will take audiences back to the Land of the Dead just a few years after the events of the first movie, with Benjamin Bratt returning as the voice of Ernesto de la Cruz. Miguel will be a teenager, and Ernesto will be back for revenge!
As a bonus, we also got an update on the highly anticipated new entry in the Kingdom Hearts franchise, Kingdom Hearts IV. The world and characters of Disney and Pixar’s Coco will be present in the new game, which releases in late 2027. A clip featuring Sora, Miguel, Héctor, King Mickey, and more was shared during the panel:
A New Kingdom Hearts Animated Series
The Kingdom Hearts news doesn’t stop there! We also found out that the beloved game series is getting an anime adaptation for Disney Channel and Disney+! Inspired by the games, Kingdom Hearts: The Series is now in development with Tetsuya Nomura, the creator of the games, and developer/publisher Square Enix. The show will feature a brand-new story expanding upon the universe of the games.
New Previews of Gatto and Ghost Market
Pixar closed out their section of the presentation with new looks at upcoming films Gatto, which releases in March 2027, and the all-new Ghost Market, which comes out in Spring 2028.
Live-Action Lilo & Stitch 2 to Include Angel
A quick update about the sequel to the live-action Lilo & Stitch was shared, confirming that Experiment 624, Angel, will be a character in the movie when it releases in May 2028.
Romy and Michele’s High School Reunion is Getting a Sequel!
The cult classic film starring Lisa Kudrow and Mira Sorvino is getting a sequel, and both stars appeared onstage to talk about the film. Not many details were shared, but the pair have their own boutique in Beverly Hills, and they’re looking for true love!
Percy Jackson and the Olympians Cast Talk Season 3
The cast of the popular Disney+ adaptation of the beloved book series then arrived to talk about the third season of the show, which is scheduled to premiere on November 20. The preview featured a look at new characters, Athena and Hera, with the latter being played by Ming Na Wen.
JoBros and Camp Rock 3!
They’re really good! The Jonas Brothers — Nick, Joe, and Kevin — made an appearance to promote the recent Disney+ release of Camp Rock 3: The Final Jam. Have you watched it yet?
New Trailer for Ice Age: Boiling Point
Queen Latifah and Denis Leary showed up to share a new trailer for the latest entry in the Ice Age franchise. Not yet released online, the trailer included Scrat with a baby! The mammoths, Sid the sloth, and more familiar characters will also return when the movie releases in February 2027.
Live-Action Tangled gets a Release Date
Fans of Kathryn Hahn, sit down, because she showed up to D23 to talk all things Tangled! Hahn was a popular fancast for the villainous Mother Gothel and will play the character in the upcoming live-action film, now in production.
Releasing on March 31, 2028, fans were also treated to a first look at footage from the movie, which is currently shooting on location in Spain.
A New Trailer for the Bluey Movie!
I know the Bluey fans out there are so excited for the upcoming movie, and a new trailer is out now that was shown at D23! Check it out below, and stay tuned for the movie when it releases in August 2027.
A First Look at the Oswald Animated Miniseries
Jon Favreau arrived to show off Oswald, a new miniseries which utilizes hand-drawn 2D animation! It arrives on Disney+ as a three-part miniseries in February 2027. The show will be set in several historic locations Disney fans will recognize.
Favreau also shared an update on his National Geographic series Lion, which documents a pride over a period of four years. Hans Zimmer is contributing the score for the show, which will premiere on August 20 on Disney+.
VisionQuest Time!
Kevin Feige, president and chief creative officer of Marvel Studios, took to the stage with Paul Bettany and James Spader to talk VisionQuest, the upcoming series set to premiere in October on Disney+. A new trailer was also shared with the crowd! Check it out below:
Avengers: Doomsday Updates
Next up was all things Avengers: Doomsday, which included a teaser video featuring Hugh Jackman. Robert Downey Jr., Chris Evans, and Hayley Atwell then took the stage to talk the new movie.
A trailer was shown featuring Dr. Doom sitting on a throne with Sue Storm speaking in the background, looks at Ian McKellen’s Magneto and Channing Tatum’s Gambit, Shuri, Shang Chi, Thor, and more. This trailer was not released online after being shown to the audience.
MCU X-Men Cast Revealed!
Marvel fans everywhere have been waiting for this one; the full cast of the MCU X-Men was announced onstage during the panel! The new film, directed by Jake Schreier, will release on May 5, 2028 with the following cast:

- Maya Boyd as Storm
- Samara Weaving as Emma Frost
- Inde Navarette as Rogue

A New Look at Ahsoka Season 2
Rosario Dawson, Hayden Christiansen, and Eman Esfandi then arrived to kick off the Lucasfilm section of the panel, talking about season 2 of Ahsoka and show off a new teaser trailer. The new season arrives January 2027 on Disney+, check out the teaser below:
Ryan Gosling Unveils His Role in Star Wars: Starfighter
Director Shawn Levy and Ryan Gosling were up next to talk Star Wars: Starfighter, and reveal Gosling’s character, Kade Auberon.
Releasing in May 2027, the film sees Kade’s fate “intertwined with the fastest starfighter ever built.” A first look at the movie was also shown, but was not released online.
Zootopia 3 is Happening!
Jared Bush, chief creative officer of Walt Disney Animation Studios, then took over to talk all things Disney animation — kicking things off with the confirmation that Zootopia 3 has been greenlit! Bush teased new “feathery fliers” joining the characters you already know and love on their next adventure.
New Original Animated Feature Film Announced
Bush also announced a new animated feature film, Clay. In it, a character named Flip is chosen to be his village’s next mentor… but his student is a literal ball of clay named Mushi (which is Japanese for “insect”). It’s up to Flip, played by Kieran Culkin, to keep him alive. Clay is scheduled to release in November 2028.
A New Look at Hexed
Up next was an updated look at the previously-announced feature film, Hexed, with appearances from two members of the cast. Hailee Steinfeld plays Billie, who discovers she is a witch but has no magic knowledge. Walton Goggins also appeared onstage; he plays a green, three-eyed cat. Though she didn’t appear at D23, Jodie Foster also stars in the movie as the Witch Queen. We then got a sneak peek of the movie that was not released online. Hexed will hit theaters in November.
Closing Things Out with Frozen 3
The final reveal of the night was for none other than Frozen 3, with Idina Menzel, Kristen Bell, and Josh Gad appearing onstage to talk the new movie. The new movie will pick up with Anna’s wedding to Kristoff, and feature a girl snowperson named…. You guessed it, Samantha.
After that reveal, a sneak peek was shown, featuring a new villain who appears to have similar ice powers to that of Elsa. The new movie will release next fall.
