New scaffolding and construction walls have appeared on the Bay Lake side of Disney’s Contemporary Resort as the hotel’s ongoing exterior refurbishment continues.

Disney’s Contemporary Resort Refurbishment

The large scaffolding structure stands near the southern end of the resort’s A-frame tower, closest to the Convention Center. The metalwork fills several of the open architectural bays beneath the guest-room balconies and rises about as high as the lowest balcony level.

Multiple elevated platforms provide crews access to the exterior columns and recessed walls. A similar scaffolding approach was used on the opposite side of the building in recent months.

On ground level, green construction walls surround the staircase to a Contemporary Convention Center entrance. The barriers extend beneath the covered walkway and across part of the tiled plaza area. A contractor vehicle was also parked nearby.

This is the latest relocation of scaffolding around the tower. During our July refurbishment update, crews were working on the Magic Kingdom-facing portion of the main building as scaffolding, scrims, and balcony barriers shifted across the resort’s exterior.

Construction at Contemporary Resort began in September 2024. Though originally scheduled for completion in September 2025, Disney later said it would last through July 2026 and then changed the timeline to the end of 2027.
