Walt Disney World has collectible medallions with colorful designs and plastic protective cases for the first time. Disneyland debuted colorful medallions last year and introduced plastic cases with the recent D23 Day commemorative medallions.

We spotted the first of the new medallions in a new machine at Plaza del Sol Caribe Bazaar, the Pirates of the Caribbean gift shop in Magic Kingdom.

The machine has a touch screen instead of buttons. One medallion is $10 or you can get all four designs for $35, including tax.

All the medallions have a compass-inspired design on the back featuring the name of Pirates of the Caribbean, a skull, sword, and hook. Two of the medallions are golden while the other two are silver.

On the fronts are images of Mickey, Minnie, Donald, and Goofy in pirate outfits. Each one has a different pirate-y border and a sepia-tone map background. Mickey and Donald are on the golden coins and Minnie and Goofy are on the silver coins.

Mickey wears a tricorn hat and long coat as he swings from a rope, brandishing a sword. Minnie is dressed like Captain Redd, also pointing a sword. Donald has a brown hat, blue shirt, and sword. Goofy wears a striped vest and bandanna.
