A new Little Golden Book featuring Spike the Bee will release next year, coinciding with the 2027 EPCOT Flower & Garden Festival.

Spike is one of the festival’s mascots and most frequently appears on festival merchandise, in addition to appearing in hidden locations around the park as part of the festival’s unique scavenger hunt.

The first look was shared at D23 last week during the “Drawn From the Parks” talk, co-presented by Nick Balian, an artist and senior illustrating manager for Disney Publishing. Balian posted photos from the presentation on Instagram today, including artwork for the new Spike the Bee book, which he is writing and illustrating.

The artwork shows Spike perched on the brim of a hat worn by a visibly angry Donald Duck, with the pair set against a background of yellow and orange honeycombs. Titled Spike the Bee & Donald Duck, the book is scheduled for release in spring 2027, around the same time of the 2027 EPCOT International Flower & Garden Festival.

Few other details have been revealed, but several Disney cartoons from the 1940s and 1950s featured Spike tormenting Donald, so the book may follow a similar storyline.

Several Little Golden Books have already been released for various Disney Park attractions, and even Figment received his own story a few years ago.
