Support beams for the load station of the Monsters, Inc. roller coaster have been installed at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
Load Station Construction on Monsters, Inc. Coaster

Construction of the coaster began in April. The future show building is now a large steel frame with track supports inside. The loading station will be on the right side in our photos, where we can now see two “M”-shaped steel elements.

These rounded pieces are straight out of a model for the coaster revealed at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event 2024, immediately after the coaster was announced. See the model in our photo below.

The “M” elements are on the left. This space will be inspired by the scare floor in Monsters, Inc. Guests will load into the coaster trains and then take off into the door vault, where the bulk of the ride will be located.

In this concept rendering of the load area, half of the “M” shapes are visible, with a pair of legs jutting down in the center of the space. Each side of the “M” elements will have a coaster train station. The trains then proceed onto the same track one by one.

Crews have also been working on the black and blue track supports, which we’ve also seen from above thanks to aerial photographer bioreconstruct.
The Monsters, Inc. coaster will be Disney’s first-ever suspended coaster and first vertical lift coaster. It’s part of the new Monstropolis land replacing Muppets Courtyard. Check out all our Monstropolis updates.
