Guests can now connect a ride aboard Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run with the new Smugglers Gambit experience in Fortnite. We already shared a look at the experience at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. It’s essentially identical at Disneyland.
New Smugglers Run Fortnite Experience
The first-of-its-kind integration launched at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort on August 16. Despite the digital crossover, the in-park portion of Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run remains essentially unchanged. Guests encounter the same queue, mission briefing, cockpit controls, and interactive ride experience.
The only change in the park is the addition of this sign directing guests to the Disneyland app to participate in the Smugglers Gambit mission.
Accepting Hondo’s Mission
Scan the QR code on the sign or search the Disneyland app for the mission details. To participate, users must be logged in and accept the mission before riding Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run. A page will launch featuring information about the mission and FAQs.
Each member of a ride crew who wants to receive Fortnite rewards must accept the mission individually through their own account. Accepting it does not alter the physical ride or add a separate activity inside the queue.
After hitting “Accept Mission” in the app, you’ll see “Mission Accepted” at the top of the page.
The ride itself serves as the required real-world action. A guest cannot simply accept the mission or connect their accounts from home to become eligible for all of the ride-related rewards.
The guest’s phone detects and validates that they actually experienced Millennium Falcon: Smugglers Run, functioning similarly to the way a phone can associate a guest with an attraction photo through Disney PhotoPass. Guests should therefore accept the mission before boarding and carry the phone connected to their Disneyland account through the attraction.
Once aboard, guests play Smugglers Run normally. Pilots fly the Falcon, gunners defend the ship, and engineers repair damage while the crew attempts to collect cargo for Hondo. There are no additional physical controls or Fortnite-branded elements inside the cockpit. The existing crate-collection results are instead carried into the connected digital experience.
After the phone confirms that the guest rode the attraction, the Disneyland app displays a “Mission Success” message. During our test, the option to connect the MyDisney and Epic Games accounts did not become available until after the ride had been completed and validated.
Eligible guests can then link their MyDisney account with their Epic Games account to claim the Fortnite rewards. Guests who previously connected the two accounts can proceed without linking them again.
Connecting the accounts awards the Carbonite Fishstick Back Bling, while completing the verified Smugglers Run mission can unlock the Forsworn Trooper Outfit. Guests who complete the ride but are not eligible to link the two accounts will instead receive a Fortnite redemption code by email.
Continuing the Mission in Fortnite
After claiming the initial reward, guests can continue Hondo’s adventure on the Smugglers Gambit island in Fortnite (Island Code: 7474-2686-2725).
The experience takes players to Mersa Veta Station and Ord Ryla, where they can complete quests, join cooperative missions, fight pirates and Imperial remnants, unlock equipment, and build their reputation as an Outer Rim smuggler.
In short, the crossover does not transform the physical attraction into a noticeably different ride. The app handles mission activation and verifies that the guest rode, while the account connection and resulting rewards continue afterward in Fortnite.
