The Jonas Brothers are reflecting on nearly two decades of history with The Walt Disney Company as Kevin, Joe, and Nick Jonas prepare to be inducted as Disney Legends.
D23 Profile on the Jonas Brothers

D23 published a new interview with the trio on August 7 ahead of the 2026 Disney Legends Award ceremony. The Jonas Brothers are among 13 honorees receiving the award this year and are being recognized in the Television and Music category.
Asked what receiving Disney’s highest honor means to them, the brothers reflected on Disney’s impact on their lives, even before their careers with the company took off:
Nick Jonas: It feels surreal, in a word. We have a long-standing and incredible history with Disney, going all the way back to the early 2000s. Seeing the impact that partnering with them had on our career in the early days, and the further impact it’s had as we’ve gone into our adult lives and careers as fathers and creatives — there are no better partners than Disney. So, this honor means the world.
Joe Jonas: It feels incredible. The kid in me who watched Dumbo on repeat and would sing “Gaston” over and over — that was practically my first word — would be freaking out.
Kevin Jonas: It’s one of the greatest things ever. We grew up loving Disney and love being part of that family. It was part of our world early, working with them from JONAS to Camp Rock. It’s always been an integral part of our career.

The brothers’ relationship with Disney stretches back to their rise to fame in the mid-2000s. The group signed with Disney-owned Hollywood Records in 2007, and Nick recalled how quickly their popularity changed once Disney began heavily promoting their music. After the music video for “Year 3000” entered the Disney Channel rotation, he said their concerts went from audiences numbering in the hundreds to thousands almost overnight.

That partnership soon expanded well beyond music. The Jonas Brothers starred as Connect 3 in Camp Rock and Camp Rock 2: The Final Jam, while their Disney Channel series JONAS gave the brothers extensive experience acting and working on a television production.
Nick emphasized how important Disney’s support was during that period, saying, “Their belief in us is a humongous part of our success story.”

The interview also reveals an unusual detail about the creation of Connect 3. According to Nick, Joe was originally approached to audition for Shane Gray in Camp Rock, with no bandmates initially written into the movie. Their father suggested that Disney find a way to involve Kevin and Nick as well because the brothers had already begun recording and touring together. The resulting characters would eventually become a major part of the Camp Rock franchise.

The brothers also reflected on the particularly successful generation of Disney Channel talent surrounding them in the late 2000s, including Demi Lovato, Selena Gomez, and fellow 2026 Disney Legend Miley Cyrus. Nick credited Disney’s ability to discover and develop young performers, while Joe recalled how closely connected many members of that group became while working on Disney Channel projects and events.

In recent years, the Jonas Brothers have renewed their relationship with Disney through several major projects. Nick said discussions about working together again began after the band reunited, when Disney CEO Bob Iger expressed interest in finding new opportunities for the group. Those conversations eventually contributed to A Very Jonas Christmas Movie, the upcoming Camp Rock 3, and “Celebrate Happy,” the song created for Disney Parks.
The reunion with Disney has also taken on a different meaning now that the brothers are fathers. Nick said they began considering projects that could live on for their children to watch, while Kevin recalled unexpectedly hearing his daughter’s school choir perform “Celebrate Happy.”
Looking toward the future of their Disney partnership, Nick ended on an optimistic note: “The sky’s the limit.”

The Disney Legends honor arrives just days before the Jonas Brothers return as Connect 3 in Camp Rock 3. The Disney Channel Original Movie premieres August 13, followed by its Disney+ release on August 14. Disney has also launched a nationwide “All Roads Lead to Camp” initiative tied to the film, including summer camp experiences and scholarships.
Earlier this year, the brothers also reflected on 20 years of Disney memories after their Disney Legends designation was announced. More recently, Disney released the first Camp Rock 3 teaser and new song ahead of the film’s August premiere.
