Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is beginning to show more of its nature-inspired character as themed play structures, exterior finishes, and landscaping take shape.
Disney Lakeshore Lodge Construction Update
Work remains active across the exterior of the upcoming Disney Vacation Club resort, which is being constructed along Bay Lake near Disney’s Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground.
Since our previous Lakeshore Lodge construction update, crews appear to have concentrated much of their attention on balconies, roof overhangs, and other exterior architectural details. Scaffolding, boom lifts, and construction workers remain visible on several sides of the sprawling resort complex.
Many of the guest room balconies now have their permanent dark metal railings. On some sections, crews are using lifts to reach the narrow exterior spaces between the balconies, where gray panels, reddish-brown vertical accents, and other finishes continue to be installed.
Large scaffolding systems cover other wings of the hotel from the ground level to the uppermost floors. Workers are particularly active beneath the lodge’s projecting roof sections, which feature green metal roofing, wood-toned undersides, and dark structural supports.
The tree-inspired murals previously spotted on several large walls also continue to develop. One mural features a tall, narrow green tree design extending nearly the full height of an otherwise pale green wall, although part of its upper foliage still appears unfinished.
Several glass-enclosed structures now rise above the roofline, while crews continue working around neighboring towers and elevated terraces. Their dark framing and sharply angled roofs echo the modern architectural style used throughout the rest of the lodge.
Lake Houses and Lobby
Construction also continues around the waterfront Lake Houses, the separate A-frame accommodations positioned along Bay Lake.
The cabins now have finished shingle roofs, large windows, and much of their exterior paneling. Crews and construction equipment remain positioned around the structures, suggesting that interior installation efforts are still underway. Disney recently revealed that the one- and two-bedroom Lake Houses will feature designs inspired by Brother Bear, presenting the cabins as retreats inspired by the artists who worked on the 2003 animated film.
Near the center of the resort, the porte cochere and connecting lobby structures remain active construction zones. The entrance canopy’s long, angular rooflines are largely in place, but crews continue working beneath and around the structure. Interior construction also appears to be progressing behind the lodge’s large glass openings.
The Wetlands Recreation Area
Aerial photos shared by bioreconstruct provide a much clearer overview of The Wetlands, the resort’s extensive outdoor recreation complex.
The looping channel of Daydream River is now easily recognizable from above. Concrete walls define the lazy river’s winding path through the central courtyard, with newly planted palm trees and other landscaping filling the islands and surrounding spaces.
Another aerial angle reveals Perspective Pond closer to Bay Lake. This quieter recreation area will include a leisure pool and whirlpool spa, with its waterfront placement designed to provide views of the Magic Kingdom fireworks.
The most notable development is visible at Otter Springs, the aquatic play area designed for younger guests.
Several large, wood-style animal structures have been installed on the concrete play surface. The central figure resembles a stylized otter lying across the area, with a rounded body, head, paws, and tail assembled from angular, carved-looking sections.
The figures closely match the structures depicted in Disney’s concept art for The Wetlands.
Bright turquoise slides and enclosed crawl-through tubes have been positioned around the wooden figures. Small green bridges or stairways connect portions of the play structures, while numerous pipes protruding from the concrete indicate that more interactive fountains and spray effects will be installed.
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge
Disney’s Lakeshore Lodge is a new nature-inspired resort under construction along the shores of Bay Lake at Walt Disney World near Magic Kingdom and Fort Wilderness Resort.
Scheduled to open in summer 2027, the resort will feature 967 accommodations, ranging from studios and suites to one- and two-bedroom waterfront Lake Houses. Its design celebrates Walt Disney’s appreciation for the outdoors through artwork and details inspired by films including Bambi, Pocahontas, and Brother Bear.
Amenities will include several dining locations, expansive views of Bay Lake and the Magic Kingdom fireworks, and The Wetlands recreation area, featuring pools, a lazy river, and themed play spaces.
