Disney announced the Imagineers who will participate in the Disney Parks “Horizons” panel at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, giving us a hint at what announcements to expect.
Imagineers Presenting During ‘Horizons’
Horizons: A Carousel of Progress will be hosted by Neil Patrick Harris this year and live-streamed on Disney+ for the first time. Disney teased project updates, first looks, new artwork, behind-the-scenes stories, creative insights, and a closer look at how Disney Experiences’ projects are progressing.
Among the Imagineers featured in the showcase is Caroline May, the executive creative director leading the creation of the Disney Villains land at Magic Kingdom. May will likely share new details about the land, which we only know will have two attractions, shopping, and dining.
Emily “Emo” O’Brien is a portfolio creative director for Disneyland Resort and Tokyo Disney Resort, and currently leading development of the Avatar land at Disney California Adventure. Despite rumors that the land was canceled, Disney recently confirmed it was still in the works and we can expect to hear more about it at D23.
Principal designer and creative director for Disney Cruise Line, Claire Weiss, will likely reveal design details and potentially names of upcoming cruise ships. We recently learned that Disney Cruise Line is ahead of schedule, with multiple ship launches being moved earlier.
Brent Strong, executive creative director in charge of Marvel projects, could share updates on several different ongoing projects, including the expansion to Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure, the Avengers “Tower of Terror” ride at Hong Kong Disneyland, and Spider-Man Land at Shanghai Disneyland.
Chris Beatty, portfolio executive creative director, and Jason Grandt, executive creative director, are expected to share information about Walt Disney World projects. In fact, the photo released by Disney of Grandt showed him in front of the Piston Peak National Park construction site at Magic Kingdom. We will probably hear more about the Cars land, as well as Monstropolis at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, Tropical Americas at Disney’s Animal Kingdom, and more.
Check out our D23 predictions for Walt Disney World, Disneyland Resort, international parks and Disney Cruise Line.
