Main Street Cinema at Disneyland Park has reopened, now showing Mickey cartoons instead of the Sherman Brothers tribute, So Much That We Share. The cinema was closed for almost three weeks for the tribute’s removal.
Main Street Cinema Reopens
The cinema’s marquee now reads “Now Showing Mickey Mouse – Star of the Silver Screen.” A yellow banner hanging beneath depicts various iterations of Mickey.
“Now Showing,” reads the banner. “It was all started by a mouse. Chock-full of laughter and fun!” The same design is on the other side of the banner.
Smaller banners hang from the sides. These feature an image of Mickey’s face around various genres of his films: comedy, adventure, romance, thrills, etc.
The columns to either side of the entranceway have vintage-style posters advertising six cartoons playing on six screens inside.
In her ticket booth, Tilly is dressed for spooky season with a lace black bat mask and a red dress featuring a skull motif.
Posters for Mickey cartoons and attractions are on the walls. The advertised films are The Band Concert, Steamboat Willie, and Fantasia. The attractions shown on the other wall are Mickey & Minnie’s Runaway Railway, Mickey’s PhilharMagic, and the defunct Mickey Mouse Revue.
Inside, guests can sit on benches or stand on the center platform to watch cartoons. We saw “Croissant de Triomphe” and other cartoons from the 2013 Mickey Mouse series.
Other than the change in decorations and movie, the theater looks largely the same.
So Much That We Share: A Tribute to the Sherman Brothers debuted as part of the Disneyland 70th anniversary celebration last summer, coinciding with the addition of a new “it’s a small world” verse.
