The wood carvers are located in Plaza de los Amigos, the “open-air” marketplace inside of the Mexico Pavilion pyramid. Each of colorful figures they sell is handmade from wood harvested from the hills surrounding the Oaxacan Valley in southern Mexico. The figures are first carved from pocketknives and machetes, sanded by hand, and then meticulously painted.

Signs on the tables note that all the colorful figures are 50% off from the marked price.

A cast member confirmed with us that the Oaxacan wood carving shop closes on Monday, August 31. Disney has not announced what will replace this shop.
