Disney shared more concept art and peeks at the ongoing development of Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, which replaces DINOSAUR at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Following the announcement of the ride’s name and story details, more artwork and photos were shown in Imagineering’s Horizons pavilion at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. The above concept art depicts an archeological dig within the ride, apparently in the once water-filled underground cave. A wall of the Maya temple is behind some scaffolding. A projector shows Indy examining something. It’s possible this is the ride’s pre-show room.

The third shows an underwater scene full of unique fish.

Disney indicated they are dedicated to authentic storytelling and are working closely with archaeologists, anthropologists, and Maya experts to ensure that every element of the attraction is accurate for the region. Highly detailed and original Maya artwork will be found in the attraction.

We also got a better look at the giant pieces of Tsukán, the titular jade serpent. Guests will encounter Tsukán throughout the attraction before a final confrontation with a larger-than-life Audio-Animatronic. At the theme park, a steel framework and the beginnings of rockwork are in place in front of the former Dino Institute.

For the first time, Harrison Ford will be the model for Indiana Jones on the ride.

The ride is scheduled to open with the rest of the Tropical Americas land in 2027.
