Additional roller-coaster track has reached the active construction site for the new Monsters, Inc. Door Vault attraction at Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
‘Monsters, Inc.’ Door Coaster Track
Aerial photographer Bioreconstruct shared new overhead photos of both the attraction site and a separate staging yard holding components for the suspended coaster.
The most significant development in the latest airborne update is the presence of multiple curved track assemblies immediately beside the coaster’s show building. The gray components have been placed near the edge of the building’s concrete foundation, along with straight steel pieces and other construction materials.
Several of the curved assemblies are grouped together on the dirt, while another large section rests closer to a construction road. An Adena Corporation trailer is visible, parked nearby.
While the components have not yet been installed, their arrival within the active construction footprint marks another step forward for the attraction. Track that was previously stored at a more distant staging area is now being moved into position for use inside the show building.
Additional curved steel pieces are already resting on the concrete slab. Cranes surround the structure and will eventually be used to lift more of the track and its supporting framework into place.
Track installation began earlier this summer, including components believed to be associated with the coaster’s service floor and maintenance area. The newly arrived pieces will allow that work to extend farther into the ride’s planned layout.
The wider aerial view shows the immense steel show building continuing to rise behind the former Muppets Courtyard. Multiple levels of framing have been erected, and sections of metal decking now cover portions of the structure. Other areas of the foundation remain open as crews prepare for additional vertical construction.
Coaster Components in Staging Area
Bioreconstruct also photographed the nearby staging yard visible from the Disney Skyliner. Numerous track sections, supports, pipes, and other materials are organized along the perimeter of the clearing.
Several flatbed trucks and construction vehicles are positioned around the yard, including a crane beside the stored coaster components. The first visible track arrived at this staging area in June. The latest views show that a significant supply remains in the area as other pieces are gradually transported to the attraction site.
The coaster will suspend guests beneath the track in door-inspired ride vehicles, recreating the Door Vault chase from Pixar’s Monsters, Inc. Disney has described it as the first suspended roller coaster and first vertical-lift coaster developed for a Disney park.
The attraction will anchor Monstropolis, which is replacing the former Muppets Courtyard. The land will also include Harryhausen’s restaurant and The Glob theater. Disney has not announced an opening date.
