Tropical Americas in Disney’s Animal Kingdom continues to progress, with more steel added to the entrance archway, a new crane in the area, and more.

Entrance Archway

For the past several weeks, only the frame of the entrance archway has been completed, but now vertical steel beams fill the space.

In addition, we have more steel on the sides that form a curved accent on both sides.

Check out the concept art for the land, which includes the archway (pictured above at the near the right corner).

New Crane

A new crane boom has also appeared in the construction site and is visible from the park.

The crane boom will be able to move and lift heavy materials for construction in the land. Last year, a tower crane was installed but later removed.

Rockwork

Rockwork continues to be shaped and weathered to create authentic pillars. We spotted crew members standing on the scaffolding to add the thematic changes near the top of a column.

We’ve also recently spotted a carved “Tropical Americas” marquee sign on one of the entrance columns at Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Crews are also creating natural-looking rockwork around the Encanto and Indiana Jones rides. We learned at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event that the land’s rides are named Antonio’s Fiesta de Encanto, Indiana Jones and the Myth of the Jade Serpent, and El Carrusel de los Animalitos.
