Walt Disney Imagineering revealed new story details and concept art for Avengers Infinity Defense during a presentation inside the D23 expo hall.
Imagineering’s Latest Info on Avengers Infinity Defense
The attraction’s ride vehicles will be known as “Infinity Transports,” a name that likely reflects their ability to carry recruits between locations throughout the Marvel multiverse as they work alongside the Avengers to stop King Thanos.
Disney previously announced that the attraction’s story begins after technology capable of allowing the Avengers to jump between worlds goes missing. King Thanos — a variant of the villain who won his battle against Earth’s Mightiest Heroes — uses the technology to spread chaos across multiple realities.
Riders will travel aboard their Infinity Transports to destinations including Asgard, New York City, and Wakanda.
Riders Visit Wakanda
The Imagineering presentation offered a closer look at one particularly harrowing moment from the Wakanda portion of the adventure.
New concept art depicts a damaged S.H.I.E.L.D. helicarrier crashing to Earth amid flames and debris. Hulk appears directly in front of the riders, seemingly pushing their Infinity Transport away from the falling aircraft and out of immediate danger.
The image is presented from approximately the riders’ perspective, placing Hulk close to the vehicle while the helicarrier comes down behind him.
The scene adds new context to how the attraction may combine vehicle motion, large-scale environments, and digital media. Marvel Studios President Kevin Feige previously described the ride’s technology as potentially redefining themed experiences. Screens are expected to respond to the guests’ changing point of view as their vehicle moves through each scene.

Avengers Infinity Defense is one of two attractions under construction as part of the expansion of Avengers Campus at Disney California Adventure. The other is Stark Flight Lab, which currently has a physical model on display at this year’s D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. Disney has not announced an opening date for either attraction.
