A new section of Floridian Way is scheduled to open to Walt Disney World drivers on August 10, 2026 as work continues on the larger World Drive North project. Signs along the roadway let guests know about the impending traffic pattern change.

Roadway Changes Coming to Magic Kingdom Area

The change will direct traffic onto a newly constructed stretch of Floridian Way between the Magic Kingdom parking lot and the entrance to Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort & Spa. Drivers will temporarily use the completed southbound side of the roadway while crews build the neighboring northbound lanes.

As of August 6, the new lanes have freshly painted yellow and white lines.

There are also directional arrow signs at the new roundabout outside Disney’s Grand Floridian Resort.

Two of the project’s three planned roundabouts have already been constructed. The third and southernmost roundabout will be constructed near the Magic Kingdom parking lot after traffic moves onto the new roadway. The August configuration is temporary, and additional lane and roundabout construction will continue throughout the area.

Crews have also built temporary connector roads to maintain access to the Grand Floridian, the resort’s Wedding Pavilion, and Island Tower at Disney’s Polynesian Village Resort. The Grand Floridian entrance will eventually connect directly to one of the permanent roundabouts, while the Wedding Pavilion is expected to receive a new entrance south of its current location.

This follows the recent permanent closure of the intersection connecting Seven Seas Drive and Floridian Way. Seven Seas Drive now terminates at the Polynesian’s main entrance, requiring drivers to use World Drive North to access the resort.

The World Drive North Phase III project is intended to improve traffic flow around Magic Kingdom and the nearby resort hotels. The full project is currently expected to be completed in late 2027.
