The park is currently celebrating its 75th anniversary when Texas Tornado stopped with 18 riders on board.

The riders were evacuated with assistance from the Amarillo Fire Department, which brought three engines and a ladder truck to the site. They used an aerial ladder to remove the riders from the coaster.

No injuries were reported, but Amarillo Medical Services evaluated one person. It remains unclear if that person was transported to a local hospital.

The Texas Tornado has been closed since, and the park is investigating the cause of the malfunction to complete any repairs needed. Wonderland Amusement Park said, “The safety of our guests and team members is always our highest priority.”
