Over the last few months, Disney has been releasing more information on Lakeshore Lodge, the NEW Disney World Resort scheduled to open next summer.

With each drop has come NEW concept art, all of which houses a slew of details, large and small, so let’s dive into what they could mean!

Let’s begin by looking at the latest announcement from Disney’s Letters from Lakeshore blog series, which previews various elements of the resort. The newest installment previews several major elements of the hotel, including the hotel’s lobby. According to Disney, the hotel’s main entrance will allow guests to become “immersed in the sights and sounds of nature” and features floor‑to‑ceiling windows with views of The Wetlands outdoor recreation and pool area.

Much of the lobby’s thematic inspiration comes from the 1995 animated film Pocahontas, which can be seen in the concept art. There’s a “shimmering fiberoptic river” embedded in the floor. Not only does this harken back to the film’s use of flowing rivers, but these embedded lights will likely be a favorite for fans of classic EPCOT Center, as the fiberoptic lights are reminiscent of the lights that were once present in the ground of Future World.

High above the floor, the concept displays a “blown-glass Colors of the Wind sculpture with hundreds of suspended glass” which are reminiscent of the leaves that dramatically soar around the titular character during the film’s “Colors of the Wind” sequence.

Interestingly, this new concept art provides a massive change from the full-size Pocahontas statue that was once penciled into the space.

A closer look at the edges of the concept shows tapestries inspired by the film’s landscapes and artistic aesthetic, complete with “crafted furnishings with accents of river-recovered cypress wood.”

Disney also showed off some of the hotel’s eateries in the latest batch of concept art, including the Paint Out Point Bar & Grill near Lakeshore Lagoon and the Wetlands.

In addition to the kind of shareable bites and beverages, this pool bar will showcase a collection of original artwork by Imagineers that draws inspiration from the Bay Lake landscapes. This artwork can be seen in the concept art, both hanging above the bar and flanking the walls of the venue.

Disney also announced Dandelion Terrace, a lounge where guests can gather “after the sun sets… to see Magic Kingdom Park fireworks lighting up the sky over the waters of Bay Lake” with “soft lighting and sweeping views” setting the mood for the show.

The views over Bay Lake will provide a different viewpoint than other hotels located in the Magic Kingdom Resort Area — The Contemporary, Polynesian, and Grand Floridian — which all view the fireworks over the Seven Seas Lagoon. In fact, the backside of The Contemporary that faces the lake can be seen in the Dandelion Terrace concept art.

Furthermore, the two-story lounge will also serve as a gallery of archival artwork from Disney classics like Fantasia and feature themed, whimsical dandelion light fixtures that add a touch of magic to the space. Some of this artwork is also visible in the concept art.

Lakeshore Lodge is scheduled to open in the summer of 2027, and each piece of concept art Disney has released has given us a new look at what the new hotel will offer, down to the smallest detail. Stay tuned to DFB for more!
