A framework is now in place for the new overhang that will cover The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge in Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Construction began on the outdoor patio in June.

Brown Derby Lounge Construction

The framework juts out at an angle from the wall of The Brown Derby Restaurant, covering most of the adjacent patio. It’s supported by posts installed in mid-July.

Right now, the framework is just that — a frame. It will presumably be covered by paneling or a fabric awning, providing future loungers more shade. Before, the lounge would utilize umbrellas to keep guests protected from the sun and rain.

The framework is painted brown. The wall beneath the framework has been cleaned up, having previously had visible outlines from old arched elements. A wire hanging down from one corner of the frame indicates lights may be installed underneath.

The patio pavement and outer wall were also redone.

The Hollywood Brown Derby Lounge is still operating, but at the restaurant’s smaller side patio. The table-service restaurant also remains open.
