Echo Lake has been drained at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in order for refurbishment work to be completed.
Echo Lake Drained

Echo Lake, which houses Gertie the dinosaur, is almost completely drained. A sign on the green fencing has an image of the Chinese Theater and reads:
Pardon our appearance
Keeping our city beautiful
Echo Lake is being refurbished for your future enjoyment

It’s located in between Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, 50’s Prime Time Cafe/Hollywood & Vine, and For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-along Celebration.
Dockside Diner, a quick-service kiosk, sits in the water.

Disney has not announced how long Echo Lake will be drained or the nature of the work. Stay tuned as we track this story.
Gertie is a life-size dinosaur-shaped building, home to Dinosaur Gertie’s Ice Cream of Extinction, which remains open and operating normally. The structure is based on Gertie the Dinosaur, a 1914 animated short film by Winsor McCay. Gertie was the first animated dinosaur and one of the first animated characters ever.
You may remember Gertie’s tail troubles earlier this year, when it broke off, Disney attempted to cover it with boxes, and then the tail was finally fixed.
