Captain Barbossa has sailed into Mickey’s Not-So-Scary Halloween Party with music, mayhem, and a few lessons in proper piracy.
Captain Barbossa’s Buccaneer Bash

The Pirates of the Caribbean villain leads one of the performances presented as part of the new Captain Jack’s Buccaneer Bash at Magic Kingdom. During the show, Barbossa commandeers the Adventureland Stage and transforms the gathering into “Captain Barbossa’s Buccaneer Bash.”

Before Barbossa arrives, a rowdy pirate band welcomes the audience with “Wellerman,” the traditional maritime song that’s gone viral online in recent years. The crew members introduce themselves as Riptide Riley, Typhoon Taylor, and Kevin before Barbossa interrupts their festivities.

Barbossa quickly assumes command and declares that the audience must learn the finer qualities required of a proper pirate. The resulting performance combines live music, comedy, and several audience-participation segments.

The first lesson teaches guests how to talk like pirates. Barbossa and his crew lead the crowd through a musical call-and-response routine, encouraging prospective buccaneers to repeat pirate phrases and respond to an “Anchors Aweigh” refrain.

Guests then practice the all-important “heave-ho” as the pirates prepare to confront an imaginary Kraken. The audience is divided for a friendly competition, with each side attempting to produce the loudest and most convincing response. Barbossa judges their efforts while maintaining his characteristically impatient demeanor.

The pirate band later launches into “What Shall We Do with a Drunken Sailor?” Guests are invited to join the familiar “Way, hey, and up she rises” chorus as the crew supplies live accompaniment.

For the finale, Barbossa and the musicians perform “Yo Ho (A Pirate’s Life for Me),” the signature song from the Pirates of the Caribbean attraction. The number serves as the audience’s official induction into the crew.

After completing their pirate training, Barbossa and the band prepare to resume their search for treasure. The show ends with one final joke as a crew member asks the captain to retrieve an apple – an appropriate request for Barbossa, whose fondness for the fruit became a recurring element of his story in the Pirates of the Caribbean films.
