New scaffolding has appeared around the S.S. Down the Hatch at Disney’s Hollywood Studios, as Echo Lake undergoes refurbishment.
S.S. Down the Hatch Scaffolding

As of August 17, scaffolding is in place around the side that faces the lake and both ends.

While the exterior of the boat gets some work done, Dockside Diner, the quick-service kiosk housed in the boat, is still open for business.

The new scaffolding comes after Echo Lake was drained for refurbishment.
“Please pardon our appearance,” a green sign reads on a fence surrounding the lake. “Keeping our city beautiful. Echo Lake is being refurbished for your future enjoyment.”

Besides the S.S. Down the Hatch, Echo Lake is also home to Gertie the dinosaur.
Echo Lake is located in the middle of Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular, Hollywood & Vine, 50’s Prime Time Cafe, and For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-along Celebration.
Disney has not announced how long the refurbishment will last. Stay tuned for updates.
