Construction continues to progress on the Ghirardelli Soda Fountain & Chocolate Shop in Disney Springs as side paneling has been removed and insulation is exposed. It’s been closed for a major refurbishment since July, but a temporary location is open in Town Center.

Ghirardelli Refurbishment at Disney Springs

Since our last update, more construction work has occurred on the exterior of the building. Much of the side paneling has now been stripped, likely so that the paneling can be redone.

For reference, this is what the paneling used to look like a few weeks ago:

The building had a repeating pattern of white, tan, and brown shingles overlapping each other.

A close-up view of the section next to the San Francisco sign shows the construction in progress. The decorative siding was first removed, followed by the black siding/wrap beneath it, until the plywood sheathing is exposed.

The exterior has been stripped down to the plywood sheathing in several more areas around the building.

Through an open door in the aqua construction walls, we could see the decorative paneling at the base of the building has been removed, with the materials littering the ground in front of the wall.

Around the other side of the eatery where the Ghirardelli arch sign is, we could see even more exterior work happening.

Beneath the roof’s peak, even the plywood sheathing has been removed, exposing the building’s studs and insulation.

This Ghirardelli location has operated since 1996. The renovation will add indoor seating, help reduce wait times, and more. It’s expected to reopen Spring 2027.
