Mary Rivera, who played Ned’s grandmother in Spider-Man: No Way Home, passed away at age 82.

Mary Egida Rivera was born on June 2, 1943, in Iloilo, Philippines. She passed away in Honolulu on April 15, 2026, according to her obituary. A family member told TMZ that she had suffered a stroke and entered a coma. Doctors told the family that her prognosis was not good so they made the difficult decision to remove her from life support.

She is survived by her husband, Alejandro Rivera; her children Carmela Jones, Paul Rivera, Edwin Rivera, and Angela Kelly; 11 grandchildren; and four great grandchildren. A celebration of life was held in June.

Rivera portrayed Ned’s “lola” in one of the most famous scenes of No Way Home. She appears alongside Andrew Garfield’s Peter Parker, asking him in Tagalong to get a cobweb off the ceiling. After Tobey Maguire’s version of the hero shows up, she tells the pair to clean up the webs they shoot.

Rivera was “very proud” of the role. Her family encouraged her to audition and it became “one of her proudest accomplishments,” TMZ reports.
