Testing of the ride vehicles on the new Spider-Man roller coaster in Shanghai Disneyland will begin soon.

The Spider-Man land was first announced at D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event in 2024 and more details were shared at his past weekend’s D23 event. Shanghai Disney Resort said in a press release, “Development has continued to move forward steadily over the past two years.”

Installation of the ride track was completed in June and the first ride vehicles will be placed on the track imminently. Ride vehicle testing will then begin.

Disney revealed concept art of a giant Spider-Bot causing mayhem on the coaster. They previously shared a glimpse at this Spider-Bot’s installation.

Spider-Bots were invented by Peter Parker and his fellow Worldwide Engineering Bridgade (W.E.B.) engineers.

The land marks the debut of W.E.B. at Shanghai Disney Resort. Within the stories of Avengers theme park lands, W.E.B. “is a hub for innovation where heroes, inventors, and engineers come together to create and test groundbreaking technologies.” Although the land is focused on Spider-Man, other Marvel characters will appear.

D23 attendees also got a first look at the mural art program within the land, created in collaboration with Chinese mural artists. The artworks celebrate Marvel heroes like Spider-Man through a local lens.
