Wooden pillars have now been installed as the dock expansion outside of Magic Kingdom continues at Walt Disney World.

Multiple timber pillars arrived on the construction site for the developing dock expansion earlier this month. As of our latest visit, the new wood poles appear to have been cut and installed along a concrete portion of the developing dock.

Wooden joists connect to the timber pillars and stretch toward the existing pathway. We also noticed that a large barge which previously hosted a crawler excavator is now absent from the site.

The pictures above show a higher-angle view of the current construction progress.

Disney filed a permit for the dock project in February, and the state’s water management district approved it in March. The expansion follows the 2021 installation of second-level ferryboat ramps, which allow guests to unload from both decks more quickly.

The project also comes as Disney prepares to expand the Magic Kingdom ferry fleet. A fourth ferryboat, named in honor of former Walt Disney World President Meg Crofton, is simultaneously under construction backstage.
