The next round of upgraded trash cans have been installed in EPCOT. Though these are the same style as the solar bins, most are located indoors so can’t actually use solar power.

At The Seas with Nemo & Friends, we saw several new trash and recycling bins. These are dark blue with black details.

On the sides is a starfish-shaped logo for The Seas pavilion.

The new bins were on the first and second floor, replacing the standard trash cans in the pavilion.

The Land Trash Cans

Outside The Land pavilion is a lone solar-powered trash can, and then a pair for trash and recycling near the pavilion’s entrance.

More new trash cans are inside. These are all white and feature The Land logo on the sides.

Soarin’ has its own themed cans. These are gray with the minimalist yellow and red Soarin’ logo on the fronts.

A few standard cans remain in the queue for Living With the Land and by an escalator.

The trash and recycling bins in the Sunshine Seasons dining area are a different style. We don’t know if these will be replaced. They are glued to the walls so would be harder to remove.

World Celebration Trash Cans

The next round of upgraded trash cans have been installed in EPCOT. Though these are the same style as the solar bins, most are located indoors so can't actually use solar power.

CommuniCore Hall has another pair of trash cans. Themed to World Celebration, these consist of blue and white panels with the gray EPCOT globe logo on the front.

Another pair of World Celebration cans is located outside, next to the grab-and-go window.

Disney began installing the new trash and recycling cans at EPCOT in June. They confirmed the cans would eventually come to all four theme parks, Disney Springs, water parks, and ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. They have since debuted at Magic Kingdom and Disney’s Animal Kingdom.

Walt Disney Imagineering was involved in the design process of the units so they look similar to the cans they are replacing.

Universal Orlando Resort is also introducing the solar cans.

The solar panels in the rounded tops power built-in compactors. Guests can open the cans with a foot pedal or by pulling on the flaps — although this has led to confusion.
