An Audio-Animatronic on Spaceship Earth at EPCOT malfunctioned recently, with its head falling over onto its shoulder.
Broken Spaceship Earth Animatronic
TikTok user @dwight_snoot__ (Kat) shared the following video on Tuesday, August 25, of one of the cavemen. Though his head is lopsided, he continues his movements. The ride was stopped at the time Kat took the video. Kat wrote in the caption, “What in the Disney Magic is this?”
At D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event, Disney announced a reimagining for Spaceship Earth based on “human connection.” They had previously announced such a reimagining in 2019, but it was indefinitely delayed due to COVID-19.
Since 2020, several minor effects on the ride have been restored, including the burning scents in the Rome scene, a water reflection effect, and a missing lightning bolt. During a 2025 refurbishment, the exterior was refreshed, including the restoration of a lighting effect.
