Walt Disney Imagineers gave viewers an update on the new restrooms between Avengers Campus and Cars Land at Disney California Adventure.
Avengers Campus Expansion
In a new video shared by the Walt Disney Imagineering YouTube channel, one Imagineer announced that the walkway between Avengers Campus and Cars Land will be opening soon.
“We just wanted to show you some area development, some graphics, and storytelling that’s happening near the Avengers Campus expansion,” Imagineer Zaneta Kam said.
In one area of the walkway, “Strategic Scientific Reserve,” along with an eagle in the middle, is printed in white on a dark gray garage door. The same logo is also seen engraved on the pavement.
Cars Land Theming
Also in the video, an Imagineer named Caleb explained how the restroom building works as a connector between Cars Land and Avengers Campus.
“One of the unique challenges we had was making a brand new plaster building look like an old Howard Stark-era bunker,” Caleb said. “We did this with the use of using different textures, materials like aggregate and sand, and color, but that’s just one of the multiple stories we’re telling on this restroom building.”
Caleb also explained that the building tells a completely different story, as the other side of the building is Cars themed.
This bathroom will be inspired by an old mechanic shop turned rest stop. The Pop n Patch logo is inspired by the closed repair stop featured in Cars.
“We wanted to do something on the side of the building to bring everyone’s eye around the side and make that transition from Cars Land to Avengers Campus a bit smoother by putting up some ghost graphics on the wall,” another Imagineer explained.
The walls separating Cars Land and Avengers Campus will be coming down at the end of August, Disney shared during a D23 presentation.
