The Magic of Disney Animation at Disney's Hollywood Studios is now open and 60 Disney characters gathered outside the experience for a group photo.
60 Disney Animation characters gather for a rare picture day at Disney’s Hollywood Studios in Walt Disney World Resort, celebrating the opening of The Magic of Disney Animation. Opening Sept. 14, 2026, The Magic of Disney Animation invites guests to explore a new collection of animation-inspired experiences.

The characters include those that meet inside The Magic of Disney Animation at Off the Page!, as well as rare characters like Oswald, Bernard and Miss Bianca, Bolt, Merlin, Milo and Kida, and Yzma.

It’s possible some of these characters will appear in the courtyard. We know that characters will continue to roam the area following the opening of The Magic of Disney Animation.

The Magic of Disney Animation is in a building based on the Roy E. Disney Animation Building in Burbank, California with magical night lighting. All 65 Walt Disney Animation Studios films are represented inside, including the upcoming Hexed.

Once Upon a Studio theater
Opening Sept. 14, 2026, The Magic of Disney Animation invites guests to explore a new collection of animation-inspired experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. In the Once Upon A Studio Theater, guests can enjoy the Emmy Award-winning short film that inspired it all, “Once Upon A Studio” with enhanced effects adding an extra layer of magic.

The experience is inspired by the Once Upon a Studio short film, which plays throughout the day in the Once Upon a Studio Theater. Character portraits inside and outside the theater come to life, just like in the film. Director Dan Abraham collaborated with Walt Disney Imagineering’s Daniel Handke to bring entertainment, excitement, and animation authenticity to the experience.

Olaf Draws at The Magic of Disney Animation
Opening Sept. 14, 2026, The Magic of Disney Animation invites guests to explore a new collection of animation-inspired experiences at Disney’s Hollywood Studios. Guests of all ages are invited to discover their inner artist in “Olaf Draws!” where everyone’s favorite snowman takes center stage as a cheerful companion, bringing them along to learn character drawing from some of the biggest names in Disney animation.

At Olaf Draws!, guests can learn to draw Disney characters with an Audio-Animatronic Olaf and pre-recorded videos of Disney animators. Josh Gad recorded new dialogue as Olaf for the experience.

“I’m so thrilled that a whole new generation of kids can dream of becoming animators one day and can actually begin their journey right there on the studio lot,” Gad shared.
