New aerial photos offer a closer look at the fireworks launch site near Disney’s Hollywood Studios following its unexpected return to activity.

Disney Testing Old Fireworks Launch Site

Aerial photograph bioreconstruct captured three aerial views of the secured facility, which is located off World Drive. The elongated site is surrounded by fencing and divided into several concrete launch pads, with rows of equipment arranged across the property.

The photos show dozens of launch racks positioned in orderly rows on the central pads. Additional racks, frames, and other equipment are grouped or stacked near one end of the enclosure. A gravel service road runs through the site, providing access to each of the launch areas.

The facility was constructed in 2016 for “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular,” which ceased performances in 2020. The launch site then remained dormant for several years, but Disney recently fired large fireworks shells from the location during an overnight test.

Disney has not announced how it intends to use the reactivated facility. Possible uses include pyrotechnics for “Jingle Bell, Jingle BAM!” during Disney Jollywood Nights, the park’s New Year’s Eve celebration, a private event, or an as-yet unannounced new nighttime spectacular.
